  • A Financial Times article I read on this issue talks about how the Financial Times teamed up with a London based charity, Magic Breakfast, to provide free and nutritious school breakfasts for students. 

  • This was because they were noticing poor performance in class because of hunger, or consumption of junk food. 

  • These school meals has helped thousands of hungry students in the UK and boosted their class performance

United States

  • CHICAGO: 1 in 4 families with children are food insecure

  • Some of poorest areas of Chicago include Riverdale, Fuller Park, Washington Park, East Garfield Park and Englewood.

  • One additional cause - crime 

  • Altgeld Gardens - Grows food for distribution

India

  • MUMBAI: Every fourth child is malnourished 

  • Diet of more than 80% of children between six and 23 months is poor and not diverse.

  • 6000 child deaths in India each day linked to malnutrition.

  • Linked to poverty, lack of knowledge about proper nutrition.
